Makzo (Esomeprazole 40mg)

Makzo (Esomeprazole 40 mg) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the production of stomach acid. It is typically used in more severe or chronic cases of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders compared to the 20 mg dose.

Uses of Makzo (Esomeprazole 40 mg)

🔥 1. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

  • Healing erosive esophagitis (damage to the esophagus caused by stomach acid).

  • Relief from severe, persistent heartburn.

🩹 2. Peptic Ulcers (Gastric & Duodenal)

  • Especially when ulcers are:

    • H. pylori–associated (as part of combination therapy with antibiotics)

    • NSAID-induced ulcers, both treatment and prevention

🩺 3. Zollinger–Ellison Syndrome

  • A rare condition where the stomach produces excessive acid. Higher doses like 40 mg are required for effective control.

💊 4. Maintenance Therapy

  • Prevents relapse of acid-related conditions after healing, especially in patients with chronic or recurrent GERD or ulcers.

🛡️ 5. Stress Ulcer Prophylaxis (in hospitalized patients)

  • Sometimes used in patients at high risk of GI bleeding due to severe illness or multiple medications.

🔍 How It Works

  • Blocks the proton pump enzyme (H⁺/K⁺ ATPase) in stomach lining cells → reduces acid secretion.
